@george thanks for the answers, it seems suspend isn’t working on my machine, as in it doesn’t wake up again.
Also what are the future prospects for the Cool Pi architecture? Will it stay on these custom images or are there plans to get it to boot more general distributions?

Currently, there is no open cover wake-up, and you need to manually press the power button. This is a known issue that can be resolved by updating the kernel in the future.As a development laptop, this machine will mainly focus on user-defined images. We have scripts for customized images available on Github, and we welcome everyone to download and use them.

@george i can confirm that with the latest ubuntu image the laptop will not wake even after pushing the power button

After the laptop enters suspend mode, the power indicator light will turn off. When the power button is pressed again, the power indicator light of the machine will first light up, and then the machine will wake up. -
@george when i close the lid the light stays on and the screen turns off. after that it doesn’t respond to the power button, so i have to forcefully shut it down by keeping the button pressed

Is firmware stored in EMMC or NVME? -
@george currently i have the home folders on an nvme, the rest is on the emmc
Also sometimes it wont boot and be stuck at a blinking underscore, from reeding it seems that both my issues could be videodriver issuesEdit: So the boot issue was a problem with my disk setup, and i did fix it, but i still can't get the laptop to suspend.

@george So with the suspend issue, any idea? It would be really useful for the laptop to be able to suspend. Otherwise i currently have to set it to turn off on closing the Lid.

Configure according to the factory's configuration (both the file system and kernel are placed in EMMC, while nvme only serves as a data disk). Is there a problem with suspend? -
@george i tried both armbian and Ubuntu images flashed to emmc only and have the problem, if i suspend from menu and closing the lid. The power light stays on and the Laptop doesn't respond to keys. anything else i should try?

After booting up, print a dmesg message and send it out. I think this should be a single machine issue. Normally, our machine does not have this problem. -

There is no abnormal log information found in the dmesg information. Do you have any USB to serial port tools in your hand, and do you have some hands-on skills, such as welding and debugging serial ports. If further debugging information needs to be obtained, it is necessary to capture the logs of the serial port sleep wake up section to confirm the direction of the problem. -
For anyone who has a similar issue like me, it turned out the nvme ssd i was using didn't agree with the notebook when it came to sleep states. I swapped it with an WD Blue SN570 and now everything works as expected.

@Momo-0 Hi Which brand SSD are you using which effected this suspend sleeping issue？
I know SN570 works fine but this quite hard to get one now. There is only SN580 on sale.

@plumlis it was an oem model I took from a damaged laptop, I also had issues with other oem nvmes I scavenged and used them in external enclosures on macOS, so I suspect ssds delivered to Laptop manufacturers have some kinda special firmwares, both times a new ssd worked without issues. my guess is any WD ssd can buy as a consumer will work.

I think the point is pcie 3.0 /4.0
maybe pcie 3.0 version nvme ssd should be okay.
