@george would you mind taking a look at this issue. I have not been able to find the instructions specific to the V20 board upgrade, so I may have missed something. I've pulled the notebook apart again and reseated the NVMe stick. I installed Ubuntu 24.04, but maybe I should have used 22.04?

I received the V20 mainboard and installed it. I followed these instructions including pulling, compiling and installing the latest kernel source, and the system boots fine, however it does not recognize the NVMe card.

@george my bad for not being clearer. I have the original notebook, and I recall you pointing us to Aliexpress to purchase a replacement main board that would provide usb-c charging and a few other new features. I was hoping to purchase the newer version of the mainboard but I cannot find it available anywhere.

@jack_admin @enok71 Great thoughts. What comes to mind the is the Framework (https://frame.work) concept. A modular design that allows folks to mix-and-match components. This already somewhat achievable as long as you are somewhat handy with a 3d printer and a soldering iron, and @george has been very amenable to helping folks through the pitfalls of adapting one-off solutions. Some possibly minor changes to the core design might open this laptop to a wider market, especially in the EU & US, for those, like me, who are not quite as handy with a soldering iron as they think they are - allowing for both "maker" level adaptations and consumer-grade mix-n-match.

2-in-1 Conversion
I've had this linux laptop for a while, and it has turned into my daily driver in addition to being invaluable for edge-device development on-the-go.
I'd be interested in any thoughts on adapting it into a 2-in-1 platform, similar to my aging Dell Latitude 7390 2-in-1 it's replaced. Some minimum adaptations:
- Change current screen to touch screen
- Replace shell or hinge to allow for full 360 rotation into tablet mode
- Upgrade to Motherboard to allow for an additional M.2 port for internal 5G Modem.
If there are any others as intrigued by the potential of this device as I am, I would be interested in sharing the development cost of such a unit, if there is a capable maker willing to take it on, and as long as as at the end of the day the total cost to me does not break my bank, incurr the wrath of my wife, and results in a functional unit at a marketable cost.

Windows 11 arm64 Preview
Has anyone had amy luck installing the Windows 11 arm64 insider preview on the CM5 laptop in an LXD Container? Note, I'm NOT interested in installing Win11 as the host OS, rather as a LXC client.
As some background, I am also hoping to do the same on an Ampere Altra arm64 server, but I'd like to be able to access Win11 functionality on the laptop while on the road if and when I might need it, instead of carrying another amd64 Win11 laptop.

@george I tried just the HDMI port with two other portable HDMI monitors (7inch LESOWN and 11inch Visual Beat), and they work well. The desktop monitors I tried were a 5inch Samsung and 2 27inch Dell P2715Q's. None of the desktop monitors work. My knowledge of HDMI signaling is limited, but I know the desktop monitors are capable of 4K resolution, but should sync down to the highest resolutions available to them. Is the problem here somehow? Is there a possible work-around (maybe some external hardware to force the desktop monitors to stay at 1K?)

@george The problem appears specific to the LESOWN Type C monitor dmesg.txt, although this monitor works fine with other SBC (Orange Pi 5 Plus). Resolution of this issue is not important for me since the laptop screen displays fine on another Type C monitor I have.
On a slightly separate topic, does the laptop USB-C port support DP MST? I would like to use the laptop as my daily driver, with 2 DP and 1 HDMI monitors on my desk. -
Laptop USB-C Alt Mode
I believe I saw somewhere that the laptop supports DP Alt via USB-C. I have a small 7in USB-C monitor (LESOWN) that does not display anything when plugged into the Laptop, although the touch screen on the 7in monitor does move the cursor on the main laptop screen. Is there a power limit on the USB-C port? The laptop is plugged into a 12V 3A power supply. I Have a similar HDMI monitor that works with the laptop if I power it separately.

CM5 Laptop Power Delivery
Curious if there are any thoughts/plans for a motherboard that replaces the 12V 3A barrel adapter with a USB-C power delivery input? This would eliminate the need to carry around a separate power supply other than a 45-65W PD that most of us likely carry around in our bag,

@george Do you know if the MIPI DSI interface is compatible with that of the Orange PI 5 Plus? I have a spare Orange PI LCD, so if it would work with the CM5 EVB, that would be enough justification to convince my wife to allow me to buy one. If not, is there an adapter that would make it work?
