I believe I saw somewhere that the laptop supports DP Alt via USB-C. I have a small 7in USB-C monitor (LESOWN) that does not display anything when plugged into the Laptop, although the touch screen on the 7in monitor does move the cursor on the main laptop screen. Is there a power limit on the USB-C port? The laptop is plugged into a 12V 3A power supply. I Have a similar HDMI monitor that works with the laptop if I power it separately.

@george The problem appears specific to the LESOWN Type C monitor dmesg.txt, although this monitor works fine with other SBC (Orange Pi 5 Plus). Resolution of this issue is not important for me since the laptop screen displays fine on another Type C monitor I have.
On a slightly separate topic, does the laptop USB-C port support DP MST? I would like to use the laptop as my daily driver, with 2 DP and 1 HDMI monitors on my desk.

Sorry, the TYPEC interface of RK3588 does not support DP MST mode. You can expand up to one HDMI and one TYPEC display terminal, and with the machine's own eDP screen, you can achieve three different displays. If you need to implement two fully functional TYPEC interfaces and two HDMI terminals, you can consider customizing a CM5 core board motherboard. If you have some hands-on ability, we are willing to cooperate with you to achieve it. Thank you for your support of Coolpi.

@george I'm afraid my hands-on capabilities are limited.'

Is there a trick to enabling the HDMI port? I can drive a monitor on the Type C, but not the HDMI.|

Refer to the following document to provide EDID information and demesg information for inserting and removing HDMI.

My apologies @george , I kept looking in the CM5 Laptop thread and not here for an answer, when you had already answered here, immediately. I will check this out today.

                    • When I plug a desktop monitor in, the edid.bin file is empty and the monitor continues to act as if it has not been plugged in.
                    • So I plugged the portable monitor in, and the edid.bin remained empty, even though the monitor woke up and displayed the desktop.
                    • Below is the dmesg output from the time I plugged the portable monitor in (I imagine the same i2c read error would be happening with the desktop monitor):
